A tweep joked that MY Florida (as mused about therein) is not so appealing: swamps, heat, alligators and BBQ. But, really, as a longtime denizen of the state (dare I also say of the real Florida: the inland northern swampy part?), indeed MY Florida is idiosyncratic, curated by me for me, and deeply sentimental. And let’s reiterate that there are no beaches (nor cartoon mice) involved. My vacation visits back down there are all about friends, food and being outside in dense tropical vegetation with loads of wildlife around (alligators are optional).

Haha love the gators.
I’m going to Florida for the first time in a little less than a month. Not entirely sure what to expect – being a Northerner in the South is a little like being on another planet.
mmmmmm… krispy kreme! hope you are having a fantastic time! xx
My first real time spent in Florida was in March of this year. Loved it, LOVED IT. My time there did involve beach time and a fair amount of traffic congestion, but even with the traffic, it surely made me hungry for more. And how I would love to explore YOUR Florida.
I’m sure your Florida is like “my” Texas — as much more subtle place than any casual visitor can truly appreciate.
I hope Debby didn’t soak you!
I’ll visit in the winter ;)
Enjoy! Love the pics!
ah that butterfly is beautiful. Wishing you a wonderful vacation!
I feel the same way about “MY South Carolina”. Heat, humidity, snakes and best of all Krispy Kreme!
mmmm, krispy kremes. we used to live in north carolina. i worked saturday nights at the paper and and my husband stopped by one night with with something i had forgotten to bring with me and 2 dozen hot krispy kremes. for an evening, he was a hero to us all…
I hope you enjoyed your time in YOUR Florida. I love that gator shot.
Ahhhhhhhh! Alligator pit!
