Wow, thanks for the overwhelming response to The Big Eff! I love when impulsive projects work out well.

The Give a F*ck project was also started on impulse and I’ve been amazed by the enthusiastic response. I’ll show you more of the blocks and gush about all the artists this week and next. We’ll take a break for the holidays and then return in the new year with more blocks and the building of the quilt.

One of the great things about this space is that it’s been a lovely vehicle for meeting loads of amazing textile artists in the past year. And one of them is Kristin La Flamme. She is one-twelfth of Twelve By Twelve, a group of great quilters who make 12×12 miniquilts on different challenge themes and then display them together on their site. They have also published a book that I love to wander through every so often.

I really love the range of quilts Kristin has made over the years (see her gallery), especially interesting are her recent feminist works that explore life on the homefront. This War Sucks quilt is a textural joy, while her apron series is quite thought provoking: take a look at Be Strong and the others in her Army Wife collection.

When Kristin agreed to made a block for the Give a F*ck project, I was thrilled!

And then she made two!

Disclaimer: Really? This again? Yep. You’ll see the word f*ck all spelled out below if you choose to scroll down.

First, she made this embroidered block that says “fuck this shit.” I love that the coil of poo exudes a floral aroma. Heh.

And then, second, because she was worried about the low color contrast of the first, she made this sharp clusterf*ck!

I love both blocks like the dickens! And they’ll likely both work great in the quilt overall.

Thanks again, Kristin!
