Please excuse the fruit-brand app photos…
After a few weeks off, this project is live again. It’s really got a life of its own, self-motivating and indulgent. Unfortunately, I designed a new (second) intricate stitchery project to begin soon and can’t wait to start it. It’s a bit of a tribute to my brother and afternoons in front of the tv after school…
Anyway, this creepy little guy is smirking at me all the time, so I think he needs a name. Any ideas?
He reminds me a darling little guy in my class(grade 1) with those very knowing eyes and an adorable smile! His name is Jeremiah! He is an absolute angel!
Thomas popped right into my head, followed by Thomas a Becket. There’s a guy who stood up for what he believed in, like you.
Such a sweet baby—but he does have a bit of a gleam in his eye, doesn’t he? Oh, and maybe it’s pre-verbal, pre-wordless Wednesday?
Naming is hard for me. (Hmmm. Food for thought there.) For your baby—maybe something related to “brother?”
It kinda looks like there’s some math homework being avoided there next to him, so maybe his name should be Archimedes to keep you properly on track. Or, as my great great grandfather was called, R Kimmie. (No, really, I have a relative named R Kimmie, as in Archimedes!)
Ooo yes, Archimedes is fabulous! Or maybe hypotenuse or Pythagoras, something maths-y would be great. Or Albers for algebra… I loved your post re the math pinterest pic a few weeks ago, he could be a response to math skills being used in daily life
Harold. He looks like Harold with the purple crayon!
Oh, he does!
Jacque!
Julio. I like Julio for him ♥
Chucky – the original creepy baby. I happen to think this wee guy is pretty cute though, so maybe that name is too creepy!
Moses. He looks like he’d love a ride down the river!
LaPaul Stevenson
When I was a kid I had a doll with the company name of “Rub-A-Dub.” I called her “Rub-A-Dub,” naturally. Along came my baby brother 9 years later and when old enough he claimed “Rub-A-Dub” as his own and named her “Ben the Boy.” This baby looks very much like Ben (except that Ben was white). That being said because of the age of her/him it’s short hair was pretty nappy. Thanks for triggering these memories.
As I’ve watched the piece grow I’ve imagined him as a cherub….He looks very sweet.
Sweet baby James comes to my mind whenever I see this work…
He looks like an Ephraim or Elam. (I’ve been watching Hell on Wheels and there are a lot of old names in that show.)
Michael….for sure…:-)
Hannibal, crossing the mountains on elephants.
Something with a “J” popped up in my mind – funny to read through the comments and see so many J suggestions…great minds think alike.
Fruit-brand… you gotta chiquita camera?
June-bug. Green dreamer.
Nothing better to suggest, I guess.
Looking lovely.
Here comes… Trouble.
I’m just free associating here, but I thought “Call him Wednesday” – because of your title of today’s post. Then that led me to “Wednesday Addams” which doesn’t really turn me on. But then I thought of “Adam” – and it’s biblical reference. First man and all that…. So my suggestion would be (wait for it!) Adam!
No names to suggest, but I look forward to hearing what you land upon!
Algenon.
I’m probably way off, but he kinda reminds me of Michelangelo’s painting “The Creation of Adam” so maybe Adam. Because of his outstretched arm…
Pubert.
I’m behind on blog reading, and I am no help today. I can’t think of a name, but I like the math name suggestions!
Adam.
The fact that he’s adorable and yet you called him creepy instantly reminded me of a stone statue of a baby that was in our basement when I was a kid. He was an adorable little fat thing with a spit curl and I was terrified of him. So, Andrew, like the statue.
